Is hitting rock bottom a good thing?

Hi, I’m Sheri and I’m so glad your here! Let’s get really real now. When someone says, “I’ve hit rock bottom,” it’s not something we congratulate them for. It means it’s the worst of the worst. The ugliest of the ugly. The hardest, most dire place to be. It’s actually the opposite. It’s the most powerful. Here is why and what you should do.

But before you move forward and learn WHY rock bottom is so darn important, you have to take this as a wakeup call. This is the catalyst you’ve been waiting for to get you unstuck and on your way to realizing your dreams, creating goals and reaching them...FINALLY!

Take a deep, cleansing breath now...here we go... Here are the 3 most important reasons why hitting rock bottom is essential.

1. You’ve stopped the free-fall! Hitting rock bottom stops you from plummeting any further and just stop and catch your breath.
2. You now have the opportunity to process where you are. To take inventory on how you feel. To think about what you want. To imagine what having what you want looks like, feels like, sounds like, tastes like. It’s your space of exploration and clarity.
3. This is the time to allow yourself to get angry and scream or get sad and cry. Or maybe it’s finally time to reconnect with your feelings because you’ve felt like such a zombie, just trying to survive by settling and staying numb.

QUESTIONS?

What has your journey down to rock bottom cost you?

And what have you learned about yourself?

About what you want?

And what you will no longer tolerate as good enough?

Because, baby...YOU’RE WORTH MORE!!!!

And now for the what-to-do-part! This is about to get REALLY good!

Here are the 4 steps to getting yourself going.

1. Pick one thing you want to do next. One small goal. Think of all the steps you will need to take to reach that goal. Take that first step and create 3-5 steps you need to take to reach it. Take that first step and that’s your first (and most important) step.

For example...
- You have a BIG GOAL - it requires 10 action steps.
- Take the first of the 10 action steps and create 3-5 steps to reach
that first one.
- Take the first of the 3-5 and that is your first goal.
- Make it something that you feel you can 100% achieve.

2. Learn to trust again...not those who hurt you, betrayed you, let you down...but to trust yourself. When we don’t show up for ourselves, we lose faith in everyone and everything else but mostly in ourselves. By setting tiny goals and completing them, you will begin to trust that you can reach them, with consistency, and sustainably change your life.

3. Repel off of rock bottom and start swimming and kicking like mad towards the top! With each little tiny action step you complete towards your bigger goal, you’re that much closer to getting the change (and life) you’re truly yearning for. You’re making yourself a promise and a priority and learning to be a person of your word.

4. Celebrate ALL of the steps forward and backward because they all teach us something about ourselves. As we learn, we can adjust course and move forward. That movement forward keeps us unstuck, off of rock bottom, showing up for ourselves, trusting our guidance system and honoring our commitments to ourselves.

Now that you have some clarity and new awareness, what are you going to do about it?

Tag, you’re it!
